A great idea if you are stuck for entertainment for a  children’s party or event is to bring in a magician, a good magic show can amaze and amuse children and adults alike. The public’s love affair with magicians and tricksters never seems to go away, although magic has changed a great deal over the years, one thing that has remained the same is that a good magician is still a sure-fire hit when it comes to children’s entertainment.

Many people imagine that a magician will be expensive to hire and need a lot of space to perform, but this is far from the case. Although of course many of the more spectacular stunts require a lot of special equipment and so on, many of the best magic tricks require little or no equipment. Remember the popularity of ‘street magician’ David Blaine in the early part of the last decade who performed tricks with nothing more than a pack of cards.

A wealth of such tricks exist, small props such as packs of cards, pencil and paper, coins and of course ‘whatever is in your pocket’ can be the basis for some incredible tricks. Many tricks are incredibly simple and require nothing more than simply sleight of hand. Of course it is worth remembering as well that a good magician can carry a great many things and also make them appear seemingly out of thin air!

One of the great things about magic as a form of children’s entertainment is that it uses interaction with the audience a great deal. Nearly all magicians will require volunteers and audience interaction a great deal, and of course this is crucial with groups of kids who find it hard to sit still even at the best of times. By allowing them to become part of the show, magicians make sure that they will not get bored so easily and remain fascinated throughout.

Some magicians have said that children are far tougher audiences than adults, they do not listen as much and they are generally more observant. Children’s magicians are generally livelier and more flamboyant than adult’s magicians, they cannot rely on ‘patter’ to make their tricks work and tend to use far more visual and exciting tricks than adult magicians. If you do decide to get a magician as a children’s entertainer then make sure that they know they will be working with a younger audience as the skills and so on required are very different.

A good magician can be the best form of children’s entertainment for any kind of event, because their act will tend to involve a lot of audience participation and games as well as just being a show, children will not get bored sitting still. Even the best show on earth can make some children restless if they are simply sitting and watching. By bringing a magic show to the party, you are ensuring that they will get involved and have an experience to remember for the rest of their lives.

Tell everyone how great we are :
